Some people use words to describe what they see. I use images to tell my story. Patterns, textures, negative space - this is how I express the energy and essence I feel in a moment, an object, or a tableau. I take photos to express what’s living inside of me and what I’m trying to understand. I work viscerally, in the moment, trying to capture and adapt through the senses rather than the intellect.
Modern Myths reflects and explores an ancient subconscious. It’s an examination of the darker side of the self, the shadow, that often can be hidden and solitary, but finding its expression can also be cathartic. Each image portrays that which has been stolen from us and gifted to us by the way our choices cause us to diverge and converge with the path of fate. It is a body of myths meant to capture the mystery that precedes us and the journey we take in the footsteps of gods and mortals.
